EXERCISE
Competitive sports and manual labour are NOT healthy exercise. Healthy exercise is a balance of Cardio-Vascular Fitness, Strength Fitness and Flexibility. It is different for different people. The best choice is:
a. something that you enjoy and which you can make into a healthy lifetime habit.
b. something that works with your body. We are all unique and whilst swimming may work with some people it may be like torture with others. But THERE IS something for us all - Salsa Dancing, Tai Chi, African drumming, Fitness centres, Water Activities and much more. Some local resources are below:


NUTRITIONYour body is in a constant state of replacing cells (the smallest biological unit of life). 10 Million cells are replace every second. The eyes you are reading this page with aren't the same eyes you had 5 minutes ago! Cells have died and been cleaned up by bacteria and new cells have been grown. The material for this new cell production comes from the nutrition we give ourselves. Some key resources: a. Fresh fruit and veg. REST
We have 2 opposing systems at play. The stress response or 'fight or flight' survival mechanism has developed over millenia. It was originally to run away from or fight lions and tigers and bears etc. It pulls energy from the digestive system and other non-essential survival systems and redirects it to the legs, arms and emergency energy supplies. There is no time for digestion or recreating the body (see NUTRITITION above) as in 30 seconds if you are not out of the way of the predator up a tree or similar there will be no cells to recreate!
A good way to shut down the fight or flight response is to relax, meditate, and sleep. This allows to more efficiently regenerate themselves.

. Massage is another good way to relieve the stress response. Oraganising your life so you get a reasonable amount of sleep also helps to raise health levels significantly.
MENTAL ATTITUDE
Throughout our lives we pick up other people's belief systems which may or may not serve us. Often there are non-nurturing beliefs we have which can be modified to be more nurturing and constructive.

REMEMBER: Chiropractic FIRST. You can eat the best nutrition on the planet but if your nervous system is compromised because of imbalances in your spine putting pressure on your nervous system then you may not be absorbing all you can. Your stomach may not be getting all the correct information from the brain. So, therefore, you are not doing your exercise programme to the best of your ability. So maybe you are not tiring yourself out, so you don't rest. And if you are not rested it is hard to sustain a good mental attitude. So look after the "Master Control System" first.
